Job Interview

I applied for a new post last month, this new post is with another part of my big department. For those who is not from BC,my department is Englisg & Exam services. Currently I am with English part of the department and the post that I'm applying is for the Exam part. The post is a new post and it sounded interesting. After much thinking about it, I decided to apply for it.

As internal applicant, I have to fill in a very tough questions based on the competencies that needed for the job. This is the first hurdle ok, the questions taht they asked were not like normal questions, you must give real life examples and you have to be very specific stated when this happened, why and how and what and all that things. Managed to fill the form, asking few collegaues for a feedback, and saw my line manager for her feedback.

I was shortlisted for the post and the interview was last Thursday. Knowing that I always suck at interview I asked for my line managers to prepare me for this, so on Wednesday we had our mock interview. The thing is our corporate have a standard questions that they asked in the interview so it was much like you have the questions before the exam and you can prepared the answers, so I prepared all the answers based on the questions from the question banks. Went to the mock interview and got the feedback and I was all set for the real thing.

Went to the office on Thursay morning feeling all charged up and ready for the interview. At about 11am, I received an email from the manager of the department that I'm applying to, that I have to do an hour assigment before the interview!! I was like what the h**l, but what can I say, I cannot say no right, so I said yes but at the same time emailed by line manager to let her know, apparently the other candidate also told her line manager and her line manager was not very happy about this assigment thing and complained to the person in charge, so after lunch I received another email stated that the assigment thing was off...phew..lucky me.

So, 4pm went up to the interview and it was HORRIBLE!!!!HORRIBLE!!!!, none of the questions that they asked were from the banks, I was like "I'm dead meat", This is not what I expected at all, but what can I do, I'm here and they expected an answer from me, luckily I'm quite good at "merapu" so I just answered them with added ingredients!!! For this post there were about 7 competenies and the questions were based on these, but was surprised me most is that there were 2 parts and 3 parts questions, which I found out later that this is not allowed!!!!

After the 30mins in the interview session, I left with a headaches and a lump in my heart, thinking that, the interview was the worst interview that I went thru. I was exhausted by the end of the day that I just felt asleep soon after dinner.

The next day, my line manager came down and asked me how was the interview and I told him that it was horrible, and he was shocked saying that I did very well in the mock interview with him. Told him the whole story and he was not happy with the whole interview thing and told me that he going to complained to the person in charge, I was like please do, but then I know this not going to make any difference.

I will only know the result on Monday, this is another thing that I don't understand, the manager told me that the decision will only be known on Monday when the director come back form her trip, I was like why she needs to wait for the director? The director was not in the interview, she would not have any idea how we performed in the interview!!! Apa lah....but just wait and see, now my attitide is if I get it then I get it if not HE has another plan for me.
